ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS To apply for assistance programs you can go online to the online DHS Financial Support application on this page: http://dhs.iowa.gov/how-to-apply. For help with completing your online application, please contact this local DHS Office.

When you go online, there is an assessment section that lets you know whether you qualify for services. If you qualify you can file the application online.

Assistance Programs
Cash Assistance
- Iowa's Family Investment Program offers time limited benefits for low income people with children.

Food Assistance
- This is the program that used to be called food stamps.

Child Care Assistance
- Iowa offers subsidized child care for children in families with low incomes.

Medicaid
- Healthcare coverage for children, elderly, and people with disabilities. IowaCare offers limited benefits for adults who are not eligible for Medicaid.
