Full Description:

Provides emergency assistance to Charlotte County families/individuals in financial need by offering food and financial assistance with utilities, prescription medications.

Good Samaritans is a non-sectarian and a not-for-profit organization that offers emergency assistance to individuals and families who have been residents of Charlotte County for at least six months.

For more than a quarter century, the 'Caring Hands' of the Good Samaritans of Charlotte County has been helping residents facing difficult life situations.

Good Samaritans is there when emergency situations occur such as job layoffs, illness or raising prescription cost. Eligible residents can receive food from our pantry or financial assistance with utilities that are about to be 'turned off'. 

Good Samaritans can provide financial assistance with utilities, prescription medications, and rental assistance. You must qualify. Current qualifications as of 2011: Maximum income $18,000/year per family. Contact the office from Mondays through Friday 9:30am - 12:30pm for more details.

Tips For Prompt And Professional Assistance
1. Make an appointment - Always attempt to make an appointment. Oftentimes this will save you hours waiting in lines. When on the phone make sure you ask for the documentation needed in order to receive assistance.

2. Do not be late for your appointment - This tip should speak for itself.

3. Dress appropriately - If you want to be treated with respect, dress as appropriately as possible. We are not saying wear a suit. Just make sure you and your clothes are clean and non offensive. We have found that clients who dress in this manner have a better chance of receiving aid.

4. Bring all pre determined documentation - Bring all of the documents you were advised to bring from your appointment phone call. Without them, you will not receive aid.
