Full Description:

When funds are available, emergency rental assistance may be provided for those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Community Action is a private, non-profit organization that administers  federal, state and local programs in order to provide necessary services to  low-income and senior individuals in our service area. Community Action currently provides services in DeWitt, Mason, Menard, Fulton, Logan and Piatt counties.

We are a 501(c)3 corporation headquartered in Lincoln, Illinois. There are 10 Head Start sites throughout our counties and 5 outreach offices located in Lincoln, Havana, Clinton, Monticello, and Petersburg. Community Action employs over 150 central Illinois citizens. Each year, we serve over 24,000 individuals with various forms of assistance.
Community Action\'s goal is to serve the low-income, disabled and elderly in our six county service area including DeWitt, Piatt, Fulton, Mason, Menard and Logan. We do this through a variety of programs to meet the varying needs of these populations. Low-income clients are assisted through our weatherization, community services and utility assistance (LIHEAP) programs. Children of low-income families are provided educational and health services through our Head Start program that serves 338 3-and 4-year old children throughout our service area. Seniors are provided transportation and meal services. In addition, our Foster Grandparent Program provides volunteer opportunities (with a stipend) to over 70 seniors aged 60 and older as they assist in our local schools and daycares throughout Central Illinois. Tips For Prompt And Professional Assistance
1. Make an appointment - Always attempt to make an appointment. Oftentimes this will save you hours waiting in lines. When on the phone make sure you ask for the documentation needed in order to receive assistance.

2. Do not be late for your appointment - This tip should speak for itself.

3. Dress appropriately - If you want to be treated with respect, dress as appropriately as possible. We are not saying wear a suit. Just make sure you and your clothes are clean and non offensive. We have found that clients who dress in this manner have a better chance of receiving aid.

4. Bring all pre determined documentation - Bring all of the documents you were advised to bring from your appointment phone call. Without them, you will not receive aid.
