Temporary Cash Assistance

There are five basic programs that provide cash payments to eligible individuals or households. Each program has its own eligibility rules to determine if a person or household can receive cash payments and the amount of those payments.

ome of the Services and Programs we provide are:

Temporary Cash Assistance

    CalWORKs
    CalWORKs is a time-limited cash assistance program for children and their parent(s) or qualifying relative with whom they live. Those receiving assistance through this program automatically qualify for Medi-Cal and may qualify for Food Stamps. Employable adults are required to work or look for work.     Cash Assistance for Immigrants (CAPI)
    CAPI is a program for immigrants that are 65 or over, blind or disabled and who no longer qualify for the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program.

    Refugee Assistance
    Refugee Assistance is a program that provides payments to eligible refugees for up to eight months after entering the United States. Visit the California Offical Website for futher information on this program.

    General Assistance (GA)
    GA is a program for individuals or families that do not qualify for other cash programs. Individuals can receive General Assistance up to three months in a twelve-month period, unless they are exempt from these time limits.

    Foster Care
    Foster Care provides payments to qualifying relatives or non-relatives for the care and support of a child placed in their care.

Tips For Prompt And Professional Assistance
1. Make an appointment - Always attempt to make an appointment. Oftentimes this will save you hours waiting in lines. When on the phone make sure you ask for the documentation needed in order to receive assistance.

2. Do not be late for your appointment - This tip should speak for itself.

3. Dress appropriately - If you want to be treated with respect, dress as appropriately as possible. We are not saying wear a suit. Just make sure you and your clothes are clean and non offensive. We have found that clients who dress in this manner have a better chance of receiving aid.

4. Bring all pre determined documentation - Bring all of the documents you were advised to bring from your appointment phone call. Without them, you will not receive aid.
