Financial Help Provided: Gas assistance, Rent Assistance, Utilities Assistance




Full Description:

Assists individuals in need with utilities, food, rent, and gasoline. Financial assistance is limited to $25 to $50 as funds last. Checks are made out to the utility company, gas station, or property management directly; Does not provide checks to individual people. Church also has a food pantry. Operates on the fourth Tuesday of the month as funds are available. Please call up to one week ahead to verify that they will be open for service.

Please call up to a week ahead to verify service dates; Apply in person on intake days; Bring picture ID, utility bill for assistance with utilities, or lease for assistance with rent; Assistance is limited to once every four months per household. Contact hours: Usually the fourth Tuesday of the month, 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Eligibility zone: Focus on Buncombe County residents; Residents from outside Buncombe County in need will not be turned away.

Tips For Prompt And Professional Assistance
1. Make an appointment - Always attempt to make an appointment. Oftentimes this will save you hours waiting in lines. When on the phone make sure you ask for the documentation needed in order to receive assistance.

2. Do not be late for your appointment - This tip should speak for itself.

3. Dress appropriately - If you want to be treated with respect, dress as appropriately as possible. We are not saying wear a suit. Just make sure you and your clothes are clean and non offensive. We have found that clients who dress in this manner have a better chance of receiving aid.

4. Bring all pre determined documentation - Bring all of the documents you were advised to bring from your appointment phone call. Without them, you will not receive aid.
