Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

An annual benefit provided to eligible low-income households to assist with energy costs. Payments are made directly to the power company or energy supplier for eligible residents in Hernando, Pasco, and Sumter counties. Eligibility requirements: household must provide proof of income, a current utility bill and have an income at or below 150% of the poverty level. Households interested in applying should contact the Mid Florida Community Services office in their county to schedule an appointment.

Community Services Block Grant

A variety of services are available to low-income households to assist them in becoming more self-sufficient and to help stabilize their living situation, including: case management and limited assistance with energy, housing, medications and certain expenses related to obtaining/maintaining employment, training or education. Services available to eligible households in Hernando, Pasco, Citrus and Sumter counties. Eligibility requirements: household must provide proof of income, provide justification, documentation of expense bill and have an income at or below 100% of the poverty level. Households interested in applying should contact the Mid Florida Community Services office in their county to schedule an appointment.

1. Make an appointment - Always attempt to make an appointment. Oftentimes this will save you hours waiting in lines. When on the phone make sure you ask for the documentation needed in order to receive assistance.

4. Bring all pre determined documentation - Bring all of the documents you were advised to bring from your appointment phone call. Without them, you will not receive aid.
