Emergency Financial Assistance to Arlington residents in crisis

 

AUM assists clients experiencing a short-term crisis, a situation that came about unexpectedly. The crisis created an immediate need and was not caused by the unreasonable conduct of the individual or unemployment longer than six months. Our assistance is not a wage replacement or an entitlement program, but short-term emergency support for a crisis. 

 

 

 

To receive assistance:    

 

Client must live in Arlington

Bring a picture ID

Client's name must be on the utility bill or lease

Provide proof of all income in household.

 

   Such as, paystubs for last 30 days for anyone in household over age 18,

 

   Section 8 Housing letter, Food Stamps (SNAP) letter, and free school lunch letter.

 

 

 

To receive an appointment, a completed application must first be returned to the AUM office for review. Client will be contacted to schedule an appointment.

 

Emergency Food Pantry- Day in and day out, AUM offers a limited pantry of our clients needing food, personal hygiene items, and things like diapers, detergent, shoes, socks and blankets.  We provide 1-2 days of food for each family, as well as sack lunches for the homeless.

Tips For Prompt And Professional Assistance
1. Make an appointment - Always attempt to make an appointment. Oftentimes this will save you hours waiting in lines. When on the phone make sure you ask for the documentation needed in order to receive assistance.

2. Do not be late for your appointment - This tip should speak for itself.

3. Dress appropriately - If you want to be treated with respect, dress as appropriately as possible. We are not saying wear a suit. Just make sure you and your clothes are clean and non offensive. We have found that clients who dress in this manner have a better chance of receiving aid.

4. Bring all pre determined documentation - Bring all of the documents you were advised to bring from your appointment phone call. Without them, you will not receive aid.
